About UptimeRankings
UptimeRankings exists to answer one question for business owners choosing software: which vendor is least likely to leave you unable to trade?
Why we built it
Every software vendor promises excellent uptime, and most publish a status page. But status pages are written by vendors, only show what is happening right now, and are impossible to compare side by side. Outage trackers have the same limit: they tell you something is down at the moment, not which vendor goes down least. So nobody could easily answer “which restaurant POS, payment processor or booking system is actually the most reliable?” We built UptimeRankings to answer it with data.
What we do
- We track 566 business software vendors across 39 categories, and read 442 public status pages every five minutes.
- We keep every incident vendors publish (19,144 so far), even if they later edit or remove it.
- We check 1,422 of vendors' public login and customer-facing pages ourselves, every five minutes, to catch outages that never appear on a status page.
- We turn all of it into a reliability score and independent rankings, published openly with our full methodology.
Independence
Every vendor is scored by the same published formula. Nobody can pay to change a score, a ranking, or the incidents we record. Vendors don't review or approve our pages before they are published.
How we make money
The site is free to use. We earn money from affiliate links (marked “Affiliate link”) and from sponsored placements, which always appear in a box labelled “Sponsored”, separate from the rankings. Neither has any effect on scores. Details are in our disclosure policy.
Corrections
We fix data errors quickly. If an incident or outage is recorded wrongly, for example attributed to the wrong product, tell us with the details and we'll check it against the source. We don't remove incidents that were recorded accurately.
