Most Reliable Cloud Providers (2026)
We ranked 14 cloud providers by real-world reliability over the last 90 days, using 235 status page incidents and our own around-the-clock uptime checks. A cloud provider runs the servers, storage and networks that a business's website, app and databases sit on, so a regional outage can take everything built on it offline at once. Downtime means lost orders, failed logins and staff who cannot work, and recovering from a lost availability zone can take hours or, in rare cases, days. Because most small businesses run in a single region, the provider's track record in that region matters more than its global marketing.

Cloud Providers reliability at a glance
- Across the 9 ranked cloud providers, average 90-day uptime is 97.16%. Reliability scores range from 88.4 (IBM Cloud) to 23.7 (Scaleway).
- Together they published 235 incidents in the last 90 days, 52 of them partial or major outages.
- The typical vendor takes 13h 59m to resolve an incident. DigitalOcean is fastest, at 6h 34m on average.
- Scaleway reported the most incidents (99 in 90 days).
What to check before you choose a cloud provider
- Check the history of the region you will actually use. Most incidents are regional, and a provider's global record can hide a weak data center.
- Look at which services fail: compute, block storage and networking outages take sites down, while console or billing problems only slow down changes.
- Ask how easy it is to run in two zones or regions and restore backups elsewhere. That is your only protection when a whole zone goes dark.
- Subscribe to the provider's status page and its per-account health alerts, since many smaller incidents are only reported to affected customers.

Frequently asked questions
What is the most reliable cloud provider?
Based on the last 90 days of data, IBM Cloud is the most reliable cloud provider we track, with a reliability score of 88.4/100 and 100% uptime.
How do you measure cloud provider reliability?
We poll each vendor's public status page every few minutes, record every incident, and run our own uptime checks against each vendor's login and customer-facing pages. Uptime (40%), incident frequency (20%), average time to resolve (20%) and transparency (20%) combine into one score out of 100.
How often are these rankings updated?
Continuously. Status pages and uptime checks run every five minutes and scores are recalculated several times an hour.
Can vendors pay to rank higher?
No. Sponsored placements are clearly labelled, shown separately from the rankings and never change a vendor's score.
